 what about homeless queer youth?  even if they had a float in the parade, it would be meaningless. all that is provided for them is a culture of corporate addiction, based on mutual alienation. every year SF pride parade and celebration coerces queer by the thousands into an abusive relationship with prie\u2019s capitalistic sponsors with violent force.  what does this violence look like? it\u2019s people with aids being evicted from the castro, homeless youth being targeted by police and business owners, and the body fascist fear of trans folks. institutions founded by gays such as larkin street youth services do not create spaces for trans bodies\u2014\u2014\u2014 rather, they exists in order to make urban spaces acceptable for \u201camerican family values\u201d by making them invisible. similarly, gay shame recently held a direct action to hold gay real estate agency zephyr accountable for profiting off properties where people with aids have been evicted.  so anyway, jane. if everyone were ruling class like jane austen they might be able to live in the castro. is that the message of this year\u2019s pride parade?
